With the playoffs on the line for both of these teams I'm backing the home team with more experience in the managerial role. Ned Yost made several questionable decisions last night that Terry Francona would never and I expect that to continue to be a factor for those who say managing does not make a difference in MLB you are wrong. Jeremy Guthrie is also one of the more over rated pitchers in baseball when you look at his tERA it has regressed all season and he's got poor numbers vs. the Indians allowing 5 ER in each of his last starts this season.
ZacH McAllister on the other hand has been great on extra rest at home. McAllister posts a 1.78 ERA at home this year when he's on 5 days rest and he's held Royals hitters to a .626 OPS in 54 career AB. I'm backing McAllister today and the veteran leadership and poise of Terry Francona over Ned Yost and the Royals.
